My 80 year old MIL had to move in with us and OMG – I think I will have a nervous break down. Imagine someone dumb as a rock, but yet a know-it-all. She can barely speak English even though she’s lived in the USA for 50+ years. She still speaks half her native language mixed with half English and the little English she speaks is HORRIBLE. She NEVER picks up her feet when walking – she shuffles all over the kitchen until I think I’ll go mad. She makes "mouth noises" constantly! When eating, she chews with her mouth open and makes horrible smacking noises. When she drinks she GULPS like a stevedore. Ugh! She follows me around like a puppy constantly asking, "You ga someting you waan me to do?"[sic] She will stand in my personal space just staring at me…just staring until I have to tell her to back off and stop watching me. Even though there is a TV in her bedroom, she CONSTANTLY sits in the family room with me no matter what I am watching. She is paranoid about being locked out of the house or into a bathroom, so when using the bathroom, she will not lock the door. Several of us have walked in on her using the toilet. She will step outside to get the mail and leave the door open because she is afraid she will never get back in the house – although I am right inside. She is completely paranoid about taking meds and will NEVER take two together – will never take one even five minutes early and she reads the literature that comes with a prescription over and over again. Of course, she’s stupid so she always misunderstands what the instructions say. This always leads to my husband and/or myself getting completely frustrated trying to get her to understand what the instructions REALLY say. When we take her to a restaurant – all she does is complain – the waitress gave her too much water (when she spills it), the waitress didn’t give her enough water (when there is an inch margin at the top of the glass), the meat is tough, there isn’t enough food, there’s too much food, the cheesecake is no good because according to her, "I make-a the best cheesecake in ALL of New York." (She means NY state, by the way). When my husband and I are watching TV, she sits and makes the mouth noises…constantly. She also clears her throat about every five seconds. I have to wear earplugs during dinner because of her chomping like a horse and during TV viewing (of all things) so as to block out those damn moist, smacking, constant mouth noises. She is underweight and won’t take daily walks as recommended by her doctor, because, "I no wanna lose weight." If you saw the way she walks (shuffles) like a lame turtle on muscle relaxants, you would really get a kick out of that statement. No matter where I go, she wants to come along. "I come…I come, too." Ugh. She washes dishes in COLD water – COLD. My husband and I have to tell her over and over never to hand wash anything people use to eat with or off of, but when she thinks we are not watching, she will hand wash a glass or spoon or whatever by using some water and her fingers. When she thinks we aren’t paying attention and she is going to wash a pot or pan she runs COLD water into it – no matter that we’ve told her at least 50 times to use hot water. She lies, too. Like a child. If she thinks she’s going to get called out on something, instead of owning up to it – she LIES. "I no do dis.:" Uh-huh. She eats jelly just about every single morning and every single morning, I have to clean the sticky jelly off the refrigerator handle and the stair railing. DISGUSTING. Though she has been with us a year, she still cannot properly work the faucet in the kitchen or in the shower even though we have shown her over and over and over and we have typical faucets like most houses. I may possibly lose my mind. There is much more, but I’m tired of typing and I’m sure you’re bored of reading this. I am hoping to hear that someone out there has it worse off than I do with this ANNOYING woman. It might make me feel better.
I forgot to say that I treat my mother-in-law very kindly and with the respect any human being deserves. I actually hope, for her sake, that I don’t annoy her as much as she does me. However, I have to vent sometimes or I am afraid of losing my sanity.
So I posted earlier about my concern over my new house being haunted. Many people told me it was probably a ghost and I should protect myself with crosses and contacting the local priest.Things are getting worse as they go along, and I’m ignoring it for the most part, but it’s getting out of hand. And I feel it may be more than a ghost.
Today, I was cooking pasta for myself (I was home alone.) I filled a pot with cold water and I set it on the counter because the phone began ringing and I wanted to answer it first before worrying about setting the pot on the stove. There was something in the water so I tuck my hand it to take it out and the water seemed pretty cold, so I was thinking about how I was probably going to add a little bit of salt to make it boil faster. I hung up the phone and went to go put it back on its base because it was losing battery from being kept off so long. As I walked back into the kitchen to the pot, I noticed it was pretty hot in the kitchen. I didn’t have the stove on or the heater on, so I thought it was a little weird. But I didn’t think about it because sometimes I get these weird hot spells. But I walked over to the pot sitting on the counter and before I could even actually get to it, it slid off of the counter and fell, spilling water all over the floor, my feet and splashing onto my legs. The water wasn’t cold, like when I first touched it. it felt boiling hot and it burned my feet and I tried to get away from it but I ended up slipping and falling on my side. I managed to get up. I wanted to try to clean it up first, but for some reason the paper towels were missing and so I went to the bathroom to stick my feet in the bathtub. I turned the cold water all the way and stuck my feet in, under the faucet, getting my shins and feet. When they finally cooled down I reached to grab my bath towel to dry my feet, but it wasn’t on the rack like I swore it was. So I got up and dried my feet with toilet paper and when I walked into the kitchen to try and see what I could clean the floor with, I saw my bath towel just sitting in the puddle on the floor.
I just left it there and I called my friend to pick me up. I’m at her house right now but she’s working and I’m too scared to go home. My parents won’t be back until Wednesday and I don’t know what to do. I don’t want to go back because things don’t seem to happen when they’re there. I don’t want my friend to go over either, but I want my clothes.
We had house remodeled a few years back. And we’ve been having trouble with the bathroom drainage backing up. We think the contractor had a plumber that didnt know entirely what he was doing. There is a shower, bath, toilet, and faucet in this bathroom. And every so often they clog up. And everything is interconnected. When you try to plunge say the shower drain it effects the bathtub and toilet or vice versa. Same thing with the kitchen. We had it remodeled. For example, if I put a stopper in the left side of the sink and put a pot of water down the right side of the sink the stopper will pop up and the water will drain on that side. Something is wrong with the pressure or something. Any help appreciated.

On a side note: I havent seen the faucet in the bathroom backup. It might not be connected with the rest of the system but I dont know.
I should add that the drainage in the other shower works perfectly. And so does the toilet. Its only in the bathroom that was remodeled. I was only noting that the sink in the kitchen acts that way when water is put down the opposite side.
I recently had to replace the supply tubes on my kitchen sink and the water pressure at the faucet was drastically reduced. I know that faucets have had restrictors in them for some and was okay with that but now I learn that the supply tubes themselves have restrictors in them. You can actually see it. Is there any way to remove them so it doesn’t take all day to fill the coffee pot?
